Why Join AVIRE?

We are looking for a highly motivated leader who is passionate about deeply understanding our markets and customer needs and designing solutions that delight our customers. Heading up our Americas Product Management team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of this highly profitable business, working at a fast pace to deliver market insights and craft a product portfolio that sustains and grows Avire’s competitive advantage. You will lead and continue to build out an exceptional team of product managers working across a portfolio of life-saving emergency communications equipment.

This position would suit an exceptional Product Manager with experience of working with complex, highly regulated electronic products. It is essential that you are comfortable working at pace and making decisions with ambiguous, and sometimes conflicting, market information.

What you will do:

Reporting directly to the board-level Director of Product and Innovation, you will be responsible for delivering an ambitious roadmap of development, whilst simultaneously working to rapidly deepen our market knowledge and draw insights to inform future evolution of the roadmap.

In this role, you will:

  1. Understand the strategic landscape:
    • Analyze and understand the market drivers across one of our core product segments, conduct horizon scanning and monitor economic and industry trends to inform product strategy and positioning.
    • Deeply understand our customers’ behaviours, needs, wants and pain points through analytics and customer research to ensure our products resonance with target audiences.
    • Stay ahead of the competition by identifying and gathering competitor intelligence, understanding their strategies, and applying game theory to anticipate market dynamics.
    • Build a deep understanding of the features, capabilities, and potential cross-product value areas of our offerings, to make data-driven decisions in new product offerings and feature development.
  2. Validate our market understanding and identify opportunities:
    • Apply analytics and develop metrics to measure product performance and identify areas for improvement across cost, value, and pricing dimensions.
    • Engage in co-creation activities with customers, and lead user research and customer interviews, to gain insights and build strong customer relationships.
    • Proactively identify market threats and opportunities, including potential disruptors and acquisition targets, to ensure we remain at the forefront of our markets and remain leaders in value creation.
  3. Develop product-market concepts:
    • Lead value proposition design efforts by identifying customer problems, translating product features into benefits, and staging features to create a differentiated product offering.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and update business models for product/service offerings, including developing channel strategies, co-creation initiatives, pricing, and go-to-market plans.
    • Rationalize product offerings to maintain a lean product portfolio, withdrawing products from the market and maximizing the value of residual intellectual property at the end of product life.
  4. Deliver products in collaboration with engineering:
    • Work with engineering to scope projects, including jointly developing product specifications, deciding make/buy/partner strategy and planning project delivery, to ensure successful product development and launch.
    • Facilitate collaborative design processes, enabling iteration, and validate features through feedback loops, to ensure that products meet customer needs.
    • Take charge of product development initiatives by creating clear objectives and key results, aligning, and activating cross-functional teams, and work with engineering leadership to balance delivery speed and technical debt.
    • Validate product designs through rigorous design reviews, feature validations and customer demonstrations, ensuring a high-quality product.
    • Respond to post-delivery customer feedback, monitor feedback from the customer support team and directing resolution of systematic defects.

We want someone who displays:

  • Action-Oriented Curiosity: You readily take on challenges, and you identify and seize new opportunities. You have an outstanding history of delivering on your projects. You work on the problems that truly need solving, and you effectively challenge the organization to be better. You can cut through the clutter and focus on the priorities that align with organizational objectives.
  • Collaboration: You embrace the unique experiences, viewpoints, and abilities of your teammates and proactively engage those differences to come to the best possible outcome.
  • Empowerment: You thrive in an environment where you can make decisions. You do not shy away from taking a stand, and you recognize the importance of challenging the team to ensure that we strive for more.
  • Accountability: You take responsibility for your actions, and you deliver on your commitments. Inclusion: In all aspects of your work, you treat everyone with respect.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, marketing, preferably electrical engineering, and/or a related field or equivalent experience. Master’s degree or certification in  product management, strategic marketing, or business administration are preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Management.
  • Experience working as a Product Manager throughout the full lifecycle of a complex electronic product– a blended hardware and software offering., preferred.
  • Strong strategic and analytical abilities, with a proven record of making data-driven decisions.
  • Experience leading or supervising the work of product/development/engineering or strategic marketing teams.
  • Results-driven – you set high standards for both quality and speed of delivery for yourself and others. You hold yourself and others to account in delivering on commitments.
  • Customer-centric – you put the customer at the center of product development, and consistently seek to understand their needs, pain points and behaviors, shaping product solutions that address real problems and delight customers.
  • Strategic – you draw insight from market understanding, customer intelligence and competitive analysis and integrate this to define clear value propositions and product strategies.
  • Dealing with ambiguity and complexity – You are comfortable making decisions where there is no clear right or wrong answer. You don’t wait for a perfect set of information before getting started, you work iteratively to clarify assumptions and refine your approach as more information becomes available.
  • Strong communicator – You can distill complex messages into clear, insightful messages that help to clarify the board’s thinking when defining strategy.
  • Agility and adaptability – as the market evolves, you can adapt quickly and adjust product strategies and roadmaps, staying ahead of competitors and capitalizing on emerging opportunities.
