The Americas AVIRE team is looking for a highly driven, highly motivated individual to take us to new heights. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all purchasing activities. You will be expected to support both new product development needs and continuous improvement initiatives to drive cost out for our organization while mitigating risk through the establishment and maintenance of redundant, repeatable supplier relationships.

You will carry out these responsibilities individually, and as the leader of the purchasing team providing coaching, support, and development to our Buyers. We are looking for a leader who will support up-and-coming talent, build in redundancies for sustainability, and ensure alignment with our overall business objectives.

What you will do:

  1. Formulate and execute robust strategies while establishing systematic procedures for the procurement of equipment, merchandise, and services.
  2. Build a world-class purchasing organization evaluated through effective KPI measurements.
  3. Set suitable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and objectives and monitor them diligently to guarantee ongoing success and enhancement of business operations.
  4. Grow and develop Avire’s regional buyers by providing guidance and support as they continue to grow in their careers
  5. Refine inventory management to maintain a balance that is ideal for the business scale and also fosters growth, by leveraging predictive demand forecasting for services and products
  6. Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of value, delivery schedules and quality
  7. Engage in and finalize supplier agreements, while ensuring the quality of service is consistently monitored and meets standards.
  8. Assess proposals and provide recommendations, considering both commercial viability and technical merits.
  9. Work with other organizational leaders to ensure the purchasing organization is supportive of critical goals and overall strategic intent
  10. Assist the new product development team by facilitating component sourcing, ensuring timely launches of new product initiatives
  11. Other responsibilities as assigned

Performance Objectives

  1. Implement a Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) that is consistently enhanced to strategize and streamline operations
  2. Inventory is effectively managed and right sized to the specific requirements of the business
  3. Cost savings initiatives are identified, deployed, and tracked
  4. Suppliers are effectively managed and maintain terms that are advantageous to Avire
  5. Identify and integrate backup options for essential suppliers to reduce supply chain risks and ensure uninterrupted business activities

Job Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to problem-solve
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing a plus
  • Experience with KPI metric management and deployment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups of people both within, and outside, of the organization
  • Fluent in English

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field. Masters or MBA a plus
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in purchasing holding positions of progressive responsibility
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing others
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all organizational levels
  • Strong negotiation skills as evidenced by vendor management experience
  • Proven ability to problem-solve
  • Proven analytical ability and familiarity with a KPI-driven purchasing environment
  • Experience with lean procurement principles
