My name is Oriol Sala Sucarrats, and I am an R&D Engineer at AVIRE. I hold a Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering from UPC (Barcelona) and have experience in various fields, including IoT systems and AI-based audio recognition for waste detection. During my time at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, I worked on Linux RISC-V technologies applied to critical embedded systems projects.
I joined AVIRE in September 2021 because it offered me the opportunity to work on projects with a global impact and be part of a highly motivated and experienced technical team. Since joining, my role as an engineer has evolved significantly. The freedom and trust that AVIRE provides have allowed me to grow, manage different projects, and get involved in new product designs.
What I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to design new solutions and apply new technologies to the sector. It also allows me to learn from the team and contribute my knowledge to new ideas or improvements to existing systems in the market. At AVIRE, I have been able to enhance products by adding robustness, security, and new specifications, all within a continuous learning environment supported by the entire team.
Since joining AVIRE, I have participated in several key projects, including the Navigation Box (a sensor module for floor prediction and elevator telemetry), the creation of an automated testing system (an internal CI/CD system for all MICROKEY products), the final development and launch of the emergency phone for Australia, DCP EVO VOIP (Voice Over IP, with system integration in the gateway), and the Fire Fighter Unit (FFU), an emergency communication system for firefighters, which is still under development.
