My name is Alastair Knight, and I am the Engineering Manager (UK) at AVIRE. I hold a BSc in Electronics Engineering from the University of Cape Town. My career spans 25 years in the defence electronics industry in South Africa and an additional 5 years in the life safety sector in the UK.

I joined the AVIRE team in January 2024. After completing the development and certification of a range of fire safety products, I was seeking a bigger challenge. I was attracted to AVIRE's values and culture of innovation, seeing an opportunity for continuous growth.

What excites me most about my job is motivating and enabling others to achieve their full potential. At AVIRE, I have primarily worked on the SmartView 2 and Area of Refuge projects, although I have had some involvement in many other products as well.
